D-3875787, There is an excellent display of a V-2 at the White Sands Missile Testing Range museum near El Paso, TX. They also have several other static displays of cold war to current rocket systems. If your ever in the area it's worth while checking out.

Any pilot that can slide a modern airliner in on it's belly and not hurt anyone has to be very good at what he does. I would fly with that pilot any time.

I have to agree, while I was serving in Vietnam the air force guys used the same procedures during take off. Landing was about the same, they would drop those cargo planes like a stone to avoid any ground fire. Much sympathy to the families of those crew members, they are in a much better place now.
